My Favorite Playlists

By Diamond · On June 6, 2013

Recently one of my lovely followers messaged me asking what my favorite playlists were for cleaning, cooking, baking, etc…. and I thought, what an awesome idea for a blog post!

First off, I’ve just gotta say I’m extremely well-rounded when it comes to music. I enjoy listening to practically everything!… Except that heavy-metal stuff, although I did have a closet screamo music phase in my youth. (Didn’t we all? haha) Anyways, I constantly have music playing, from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep. I can’t lie, if you were to ask me my favorite artists, I’d be at a loss for words. I can’t just pick a few! So, I’ll stick to telling you my favorite Pandora stations to make it easier.

Car tunes!
If you ride with me in my car you’ll find either the local country or worship stations on, the latest Mumford & Sons album Babel, or the Syrus radio station Coffee House. If I’m feeling frisky I’ll switch it up with the a pop/rap radio station, but quickly give up because I only know about 5% of the songs.

Downtime melodies!
When I have to focus on something like catching up on my reading or writing a blog, I need background noise. I can’t work in silence for the life of me. My favorite Pandora station to turn on is Pride & Prejudice radio. I’m telling you it works wonders! I discovered this treasure in college and would listen to it whenever I needed to study or finish a paper.

Baking music!
When I bake I want to be as relaxed as possible, it’s therapeutic! Nothing calms me more than a chill Pandora station to keep me company as I wait for my goodies to bake! Normally I’ll listen to JJ Heller radio, it’s probably my favorite Pandora worship station. I love worshiping alone, it’s more personal to me and it’s when I tend I do most of my praying. If I’m not listening to that station I’ll have either Ben Howard, John Mayer, Mat Kearney, Regina Spektor, Ed Sheeran or Ray Lamontage on.  I could go on for days. Honestly, anything acoustic! Ultimately, they all pretty much end up sounding the same; I switch stations when I run out of skips.

Cleaning jams!
Oh gosh, you’d think I was throwing a rager if you drove by my house when I’m in an extreme cleaning mood. I like my music loud! I have to make sure I can hear it from every room in the house. I always seem to think I’ll be able to hear it over the vacuum. One thing I really like to do, is turn on one of those TV stations that strictly play country music videos ALL day… GAC, Country Network, etc.  If TV isn’t on,  my go to Pandora country stations are Kip Moore (oh my goodness, I’m obsessed with that man!), Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, you know, all the hotties! If I’m not in the Country mood for cleaning, I’ll turn on some Backstreet Boys radio (don’t judge me, 90’s are the best!). Recently though, I’ve been on this O.A.R. kick, it’s just a really fun station to listen to, it makes me hyper! Plus, it plays a lot of live music including Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, Dispatch, etc… I love it because it gives me the ambiance of being at a concert.  I absolutely love live music!

Cooking music!
Now these playlists depend on if the Hubby is home or not. I normally make him play DJ. The typical easy choice is country music of course… sometimes he’ll turn on some Joe Diffie Pandora because it’s “real” country music. Also, we’re both big fans of classic rock, it’s what we were both raised on, so sometimes we’ll rock out to some Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rolling Stones, Prince and Journey just to name a few. But, on the other hand my husband is an old soul, and he loves his oldies music. It’s probably one of my favorite qualities about him. He’ll turn on his Frank Sinatra, Fred Astire, Ginger Rodgers, and the list goes on. Sometimes, you’ll catch us slow dancing… when I’m not stirring something on the stove or checking the oven. My hubby and I are nerds, and we’ve accepted it!

Regardless, when I’m cooking I’m constantly singing and dancing barefoot in my kitchen!

Right now!
If you checked my Pandora right now,  I’d be listening to Mumford & Sons. Call me a obsessed, but I’m in love with every single song of theirs. It’s truly real music in my opinion, so many artists nowadays just lack that emotion. It might be pretty hipster, but I’m going to one of their shows this year, and I absolutely cannot wait!!

I wasn’t kidding when I said I like everything. Honestly, it’s in my nature. I’m a woman, I simply cannot pick one genre and stick to it!

Love y’all
-Diamond!
